I recently read in the news that April 2013 is predicted to be a particularly intense allergy season. But March wasn't exactly blameless in that department either. We love the freshness of spring and promise of renewal it brings each year, but could do without the side effects. Check out the link below for some good information on how to beat the runny nose and watery eyes. Hint: One of my favorites: Don't clean house so much! Allergies.
Many of us enjoy a nice cup of tea once in awhile. I know I do. Tea has become one of my go to comfort foods. Often I have more but always at least one cup a day, usually at about the traditional English tea time. A recent study, however, revealed that men who consumed more than seven cups a day of black tea, which includes Earl Grey, Constant Comment and many other flavored teas are at a 50% higher risk of developing prostate cancer than men who drank three or fewer cups a day.
Dr. Kashif Shafique, MD, MPH, doctorate fellow, Institute of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK reported the results from a study that followed 6,016 men for 37 years. Herbal teas were not included in the study and so far, there is no explanation for the link between black tea and prostate cancer.
The recommendation:Men who enjoy a good cuppa should limit intake to three cups or less a day.
Although female sex hormones and brain chemistry offer some protection from stress, women are more deeply affected by the physical and emotional effects of stress than men.
